It’s been a great week in the gymnastics world. Right now the U.S. men’s and women’s teams are in Rio de Janiero for the Pan American Games.

The men finished with a bronze medal just behind Puerto Rico and Brazil. The women took the team gold medal with brand new U.S. senior elite Shawn Johnson winning the individual all-around competition!

The U.S. national championships are coming up in August, and this year they also serve as the world championship team trials. That means that everyone’s game face is on, and they are all vying for positions on the national team as well as the world team.

Coming up this week will be event finals for both the men and women at the Pan Am Games. I’ll keep you updated on how everyone does. A good showing at the Pan American Games can go along way in proving they have what it takes to be a contender at the Olympics next year.
