I am so excited (and a little nervous). The “Olympic Heroes tour” met up in Frankfurt, Germany, early this morning (Saturday the 5th) to head out on our goodwill tour for the U.S. troops in Qatar and Afghanistan. I am here with Olympic medalists Shawn Crawford, Jessica Mendoza, Angela Ruggiero and Mike Whitmarsh. (Click here for more info.)

We landed in Doha late Saturday night and got introduced to a few soldiers before learning the lay of the land here at “camp.” It’s incredible what these men and women do for our country. We can’t wait to meet the troops and let them know how much we appreciate all that they do for us. I’m hoping to be able to send some pictures along soon. In the meantime, we are learning all about sand spiders, scorpions and camels.

We also took a look around the R&R area at camp. This is where servicemen and servicewomen can go on four-day passes to get a break. They’ve got everything from a Chili’s to a Dairy Queen. Of course, they also have a 24/7 fitness center, bowling, computer lounges, television and one of the most frequently visited USOs in the world! It may not be home, but every little bit helps.
