Easter and a visit with the Navy

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. I had a wonderful visit to the Navy base in Mayport, Florida last Wednesday as part of a Morale, Welfare and Recreation visit. I met wonderful men and women who gave me a tour of the USS Boone (that is preparing to head out soon, good luck!) and the Helicopter Squadron. The guys at the shooting range let me try my hand with an M16. After lunch I got a chance to meet with some of the children on the base. We talked about the Olympics and setting goals. It was a great day and I can’t wait to go back and visit again.

On Friday, I taped the most recent episode of Gymnastics 360°. This week we covered the Georgia vs. UCLA meet. It was an exciting competition but in case you haven’t heard I won’t tell you how it ends.

This coming weekend will be the Pacific Rim competition held in San Jose, Calif. Nastia Liukin and Jana Beiger will headline while Shawn Johnson will take a well deserved break after winning her last international competition just a couple of weeks ago. Paul Hamm will be competing on the men’s side along with Raj Bhavsar and Alexander Artemov. Carly Patterson will also be performing her new single, “Temporary Life” which is set to release on iTunes March 25th!!

Have a great week!

  1. Christopher Wereley Says:

Hey Shannon, with the olympics a little over four months away, are you concerned with all the talks about certain groups of people using the games as platform to protest the human rights issues people in China are facing today? It’s a touchy subject and there’s a time and place for raising awareness, but the olympic games shouldn’t be exploited that way!
