From the Slopes

What an amazing weekend!

Bode sure proved he is in the game this weekend. But, of all the races this weekend — 3rd in the combined, 5th in the slalom and first on the toughest, longest down hill for a second time –, it was the slalom that had me most excited.

Bode has been working very hard with Head to develop a slalom ski that would work for him and it finally came together this weekend. I am really looking forward to see what happens the rest of the season.

Watching Bode throw down a run like he did on Sunday was friggin’ awesome. I started the day out way down at the train station in the village below Wengen at the Bode tent. My buddy Martin lined up a helicopter ride to the start of the race. We flew up a little before the race only to watch Bode destroy the competition.

After Bode’s run I b-lined it to the train, which was packed. So, I smooth-talked the conductor into letting me ride up front with him and help drive the train. That was the first train down and I was at the tent until dark.

We all met up in Interlaken for a team dinner then went back to the hotel to get some rest after the action packed day. Bode split for Kitz Monday morning and I will catch up the day after.

The coming race should be tons-o-fun. Bode has the chance to take the WC over-all lead, break the 25 year standing record for the most US wins to confirm that he is best skier America has ever produced and, most of all, have fun

This weekend was so fun for we Bode-fans, I can imagine how great you guys must be feeling. Sure looking forward to Kitz. Something about Bode makes him so fun to root for even when he doesn’t win… but winning is good too :-) Thanks for blogging Chance!
