Short lease
Hooty Hoo, ski fans.
It is a bit strange for me to watch the races on live stream and not in person, but such is the only option when you are home waiting for Jr. to arrive.
In the ski world, Bode is still working through some ski models, trying to find a ski with the proper balance of torsional stability to longitudinal flex. The current race ski has good balance but is very stiff and unforgiving if Bode is not in a powerful position and timing his turns well.
There are some new models he has tested since the race, and he feels encouraged. So hopefully there will be a couple more opportunities to train on these before Alta Badia. Boot setup is good now and the forward lean, ankle position and ramp angle all seemed dialed in.
In the non-ski world, conditioning is going well, and we only have to figure out a few glitches in our Agaton machine before the kid has a world-class training facility at his fingertips.
For me at home during the holidays, it is a relatively new experience for the last 13 years, so I am embracing the Xmas caroling, egg nog festivities, tree decorating and a chance to freeski in great conditions. The local hockey scene is also great for fitness and blowing off some steam. Val Gardena should be great for Bode as he won the SG last year and had the DH in his grasp before making a mistake. Snow conditions look great, and Bode is positive and encouraged.
Ski ya later,
Johno
