Oversleeping in New York

Hey, everyone. It’s been another couple of weeks again, so I guess it’s time to check in on the blog thing.

Since the last time I checked in, I had my wrist surgery to have all of my pins removed! And my wrist feels great! I can finally move it again.

Since the 16th, I’ve been working really hard on getting back my range of motion for the last month and am already almost back to 100%. Which is very exciting, considering the docs said it would take more like two months to get it all back. I’m still doing physical therapy twice a week for the next month, so everything will be perfect by the time I start riding again … which is the beginning of September in New Zealand. I’ll be there for just a couple of weeks.

This past weekend was a blast! I got to travel to NYC to visit a great friend of mine from back home in MN. I flew in on Thursday and spent the day cruising the city until my friend was finished with work … yeah, crazy now that my friends have desk jobs! Anyway, then we went out to happy hour and pretty much spent the night out on the town! Same for Friday.

Saturday we got up, ate some breakfast then went to Connecticut for some GOLFING! This was my first attempt after surgery and, surprisingly, it wasn’t too bad or painful! Though, my game was not even close to what it was before the surgery. Then after a beautiful day at the country club and 18 holes of bogey golf, we headed back to the city for another evening of fun. We hurried to get ready, then made our way from the upper east side, where he lives, to the downtown area.

Here, we met up with some of my friends and people who work for Helly Hansen, which is my outerwear sponsor. Now, I am not sure how this happened, but we stayed out ALL NIGHT, until 5 a.m. I know, CRAZY. I am still recovering from the lack of sleep.

Oh and get this, I almost missed my flight back home to Colorado because I fell asleep! I woke up at 8:20 a.m. and had a 9:30 flight! So I get up, turn off my alarm, look at the time and say to myself … DAMMIT!! Pack up all of my stuff and run to the street to try to catch a cab. Luckily there was one right outside, so I jumped in and was on my way. I made it to the airport with about three minutes to spare before the check-in cutoff! So I slept the whole flight home and now am back working on my physical therapy!

Next on the agenda, SIMS is throwing a HUGE kick-off, kick-ass party in Denver on the 24th. So I’ll pretty much be resting until then so I can be sure to have a blast there as well! So I guess I’ll be checking in after that again … or maybe sooner! Who knows. Later!
