Time for my trip

I’m busy getting ready to leave for my trip overseas. On Thursday, I fly to Helsinki, Finland. I have never been to Finland before and I’m excited for it.

I got an email from my host that it is wintertime, but they have been having some “warm” weather up to the 40s. That is a little different from the definition of warm in Georgia. We just had our first couple nights that got down to the 40s, and everyone is cold when we get to morning practice.

I get to stay in Helsinki for about a week before heading for a swim meet in northern Finland. Once that meet starts, my trip will really be underway. The Finland Grand Prix is a two-day meet, and if I remember correctly I swim 4 events. Then I have one travel day before the Stockholm World Cup meet starts. That is another two-day meet with 4 events.

I have been happy with my training this week so far. On Monday, I did a 3,800-meter breaststroke set that was probably the best breast set of my life. Then I followed that up with a good 400 IM group practice on Tuesday morning and a good easy-fast set Tuesday afternoon. Now it’s time for my weekly Wednesday morning sleep-in. I will have to use the extra rest to motivate myself to start packing.
