My little sister Melanie swam at the Florida Senior Championship meet this weekend. She is 16 and won all her events and I believe she set meet records in all her events. I was really happy for her. She swam the 200 Free in 1:48, the 200 IM in 2:00, 400 IM in 4:16, 200 back in 1:59, and 100 breast in 1:03. It doesn’t matter who it is or how old you are, to go 5 best times in one meet is pretty awesome.
I am not expecting to go best times but I am getting ready for the American Long Course Championships in Austin Texas this week. I got excited about swimming in my own meet after hearing about Melanie’s swims. I am only going to get about one day of rest going into the meet but since my stroke has been feeling pretty good lately so even though I’m going to be swimming tired I think I’ll swim fast.
This weekend was also good for the Georgia swimmers at the last chance meet. We has a few people make A cuts and go best times. I am always impressed when people can swim their best times at that kind of a meet. It is hard to get excited at a small meet where there isn’t usually a whole lot of excitement in general. Way to go Dawgs.
