Adventures with crumb brain

Last night the team got to have dinner out so Nat, Elizabeth, Jessica, Mary, Kara Lynn and I all went out together. We decided to eat at this awesome restaurant called Savvas (you can actually check it out at savvasrestaurant.com). The menu was pretty cool and diverse but there was one thing there that we weren’t sure about: crumb brain. Yes, that’s right — brain. Breaded, fried sheep’s brain to be precise. We asked about it and the owners were nice enough to bring some out for us to try. There were 4 brave souls who tried it. Mary was struggling to keep it down but I was pretty impressed that she even tried it, because she usually will only eat really boring food. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I definitely don’t plan on having it again — ever.

The rest of the food was amazing and they even wrote “USA” into our desserts (yes, we treated ourselves, but it was part of the meal!). However, now I am paranoid that I am going to end up with scrapie (the sheep version of mad cow disease) and am madly trying to remember everything I know about prion diseases. Oh well, at least I will be able to say that I had an awesome food adventure with my friends on the national team.
