Silver in the relay

Last night, I earned another silver medal. I swam on the medley relay and was pretty happy with how it went. Although, Rachel said that we were only one one-hundredth off of the American record, and it would have been nice to break that. Maybe we can get it in a couple of days at Duel in the Pool.
It was pretty great for me to get to swim at night because at most international long course meets, I end up swimming in the morning prelim relay. It’s great to be on the relay at all, but it’s better to be on it at night and actually race.
In the relay, I swam about the same as I did in the individual 100 breaststroke, which is good because at least now I know that I am consistent in the 1:06s. It was bad because you are supposed to be faster on the relay since you are swimming for your country and team and getting a faster relay start. Plus, I got totally mowed down by Leisel’s ridiculous 1:04.9.
Oh, well. I will have to be satisfied with my fastest relay split ever (by about seven tenths).
I was also swimming the 200 breast for a couple of days in the middle of the meet, but we will just say that that event did not go well. The final was the night before last, and I’m pretty sure that I was eighth but I think that I just had a bad swim in finals. I’ve got to think that I am better than that result if I am going to continue to swim the 200 for the USA.
In addition to the relay, I also swam the prelims and semis in the 50 breast yesterday. I really have no idea what I am doing in that event but whatever, I just go.
I have the finals tonight, and that will be my tenth swim of the meet. It’s been pretty intense, and I am looking forward to my day off tomorrow when we travel to Sydney for Duel. Then … vacation!
