Down goes Leisel

If you watched the coverage of worlds on WCSN, you will have noted the blue warmups with a red and white stripe on each side that everyone had to wear for march out and awards.
What could not be conveyed to you over the wonderful mediums of television and webcast, is just how bad those things smelled. Or at least, I know mine smelled and other people were complaining about theirs — I didn’t go in for a sniff. I think for me, it was wearing them everyday while being somewhat nervous for a lot of that time and also not washing them before I left.
I also traded my medium jacket for Jess’ small, and she hadn’t washed it either. It is so easy to just shift the uniforming sent to us straight from the box to my bags, but I have learned my lesson. Always wash your uniform before you leave on your trip; it will save everyone a lot of grief. But now we can all be happy, because I do not have to put them on again. Yay!
The other thrilling part of the night was Duel in the Pool. I am very proud of myself because I won the 100 breaststroke. That means I BEAT LEISEL JONES!
The time wasn’t wonderful, but who cares. I actually looked up at the time and was thinking that it was all right, and then I looked over and there was my face on the big screen and I said to myself, “Huh, why are they showing me … OMG, did I win?!?!?”
It was great. The women fell a little short of winning the meet, but the men did so great that we not only won the men’s meet but also the combined meet. But now … vacation!
