That darn cat
I’ve had a few things happen recently. I got drug tested at practice; I learned the importance of proper car maintenance the hard way; and Ms. Jackson was a very bad cat.
I get drug tested a lot, so the latter isn’t all that unique (I hope the other things are though), but I thought that I would mention it. I’ve only been drug tested three times since I started writing my blog (the other times were at Worlds), so you guys might find it interesting. The USADA official who usually tests in my area is one of the best I’ve ever come across, so it was pretty quick and painless. It’s a little annoying to have to either take time out of practice or stay later to do it after (I don’t really care about someone watching me pee anymore), but I hope that by drug testing along with everyone else it will ensure that I race against clean athletes.
Sometimes I get paranoid that something crazy will happen and my sample might be accidentally contaminated or something. But I just do my best to make sure that my sample is secure, and I check all my medicines online with USADA.
In other news, I had a bit of a scare with my car because I was WAY overdue for an oil change and had the oil warning light turn on while I was driving in the Santa Cruz mountains in the middle of nowhere. It turned out OK and I managed to get it changed, but my engine was absolutely dry and I got really stressed out about engine damage. It would really be lame if I had ended up having to pay thousands of dollars in repair costs just because I was lazy and careless.
Finally, I think that I should mention Ms. Jackson the Cat’s activities yesterday and very early this morning. I got home yesterday to find a table overturned on a plant and a bunch of other stuff strewn across the floor. Ms. Jackson was just sitting on her chair looking at me, as if to say “What?” I got it all cleaned up, and it looked like everything survived the fall.
But then, this morning, at about 4:12 AM, there was a huge crash in the living room. Dana (who is staying with me for a while) and I met up in the living room where Ms. Jackson was looking a little guiltier. This time, the plant pot and some glass coasters were shattered all over the floor and the table was again overturned.
The table is about three times her weight, so it is still a mystery as to what happened.
