From the Pool

Making use of a day off

Today was my day off since I had a meet on Sunday. It was only a little time trial meet that was being held after the CCS Champs at the Stanford pool. Swimming went well (although I thought that my 200 could have been better) and I think that I was also able to make good use of my time off.

It was a huge cleaning weekend at my apartment since it had gotten pretty messy. I guess that since it is May we can call it “spring cleaning.” It also took the place of going shopping for the third time in five days, which is probably a good thing. Lots of dish washing, vacuuming, bathtub scrubbing, sweeping and laundry. I also made some good use of the sewing machine that my mom got me a few months ago. I fixed a pair of pants that were the victim of a bicycle chain. I also took in a shirt, brought up the hem on another one of my shirts, and fixed a dress that needed a few alterations to fit a muscular back. Woohoo! I am a domestic goddess – not really – but I only had to call my mom for help once.

Also, my boyfriend and I put the bookcase that he made for me up in my room. It looks pretty awesome. Now I don’t have random books lying all over the place in my apartment. For those of you who are dying to know, it is cherry wood and weighs about a ton. At least that was what it felt like when I was helping to carry it in.
