A nice break from practice
This weekend was a nice break from practice. Saturday morning was hard but it was over by 9:30 and then I had the rest of the weekend to myself. It was so incredibly nice to sleep in today (Ms. Jackson had other ideas but at least she goes back to her basket when I ignore her meowing). I think that I devoted more of my free time to football than I would like but then again, I always overdo it a little bit at the beginning of the season.
Saturday night, I went to the Stanford game against Oregon with Greg, his cousin, and the cousin’s German friend who had never been to a game before. It was a pretty fun time. Even though we lost, I was impressed by our team. They played with a lot of spirit and intensity — a few of the things that they’ve been lacking in recent years. They played really well for the first half and were even ahead at half time. However, Oregon is a pretty good team and they were able to catch up. Whatever, it is so much more enjoyable to watch them this year than is was last year when they couldn’t even hold their heads up. I’m sure that it is more enjoyable to play on that team this year, too.
Today, I watched a lot of football as well. Greg and I have a little thing going with my neighbors Tim and Kerrie to see who can pick the most winners every week. I haven’t done so well this week. Only 9 – 6 with one game to go. Morning practice tomorrow starts at 6. We’ve been going at 7:30 for the past two weeks so that is going to feel really early. But at least we don’t have straight doubles for the entire week.
