Reconsidering skinny jeans
The past few days have been pretty fun. On Friday night, Greg and I went to a holiday party hosted by a couple of our friends. It was a fun way to celebrate the holidays before everyone heads out of town to hang out with their respective families.
I also took a risk and wore semi-“skinny” jeans to the party. Now recently I’ve been mounting a campaign against skinny jeans. Let’s be honest, unless you have the rare and often coveted thin and tall body type, these pants are not going to do you any favors … unless your goal is to look like an ice cream cone. However, I ended up with some slim fit jeans from a photo shoot and decided to give them a try (with four-inch heels, of course).
I think that it was a success! So while I am not going to totally back down from my stance on skinny jeans, I might be less adamant in my dislike of them.
Today, after practice (which went pretty well BTW), Greg and I headed up to the city to hang out with Justin and Kelty. We spent most of our time at the Farmers Market and Arts and Crafts Market in and around the Ferry building. Kelty has her own business, Satchel Studio (http://www.satchel-studio.com), and sells unique bags that she designs every weekend at the Market.
While I was wandering around the Farmers Market, I also bumped into Natalie Coughlin. It was funny to meet her there, in a place totally unrelated to swimming. We chatted for a bit, which was great, since I hadn’t seen her since Golden Goggles. She’s always doing interesting things, so it is fun to hear what she was up to in the city.
After we got everything packed up from the Market, Justin, Kelty, Greg and I walked around the city a bit until we finally decided on House of Nanking for dinner. It was really fun! The owner came by and asked us if it was our first time there and since it was for Greg and me, he just ordered all of our food for us. I ended up trying a lot of food that I wouldn’t normally have chosen. But it was all really good, and the whole experience was a fun food adventure!
