From the Pool

Crowded warm-up but a breaststroke win

The meet went pretty well today. However, it wasn’t without its difficulties. Yesterday, the morning session was divided up into A and B flights but today the sessions were combined so it took a lot longer to move through the preliminaries. Warm-up was also super, super crowded. I guess that I am spoiled because crowded lanes where everyone is swimming over each other just make me really angry. Still, I managed to make it back to the A final in the 100 fly and 100 breaststroke. The swims weren’t great but I think that everyone else had a bad warm-up so it didn’t really matter.

After the morning session, Dana and I went straight back to our hotel to catch a nap and pack because we were getting kicked out at one. Then we got lunch at Claim Jumper and I definitely had something that did not agree with me. I was a little worried that I was going to lose my lunch in the pool but I gradually started to feel better as the afternoon warm-up went on.

In finals, I swam a pretty decent 53.8 in the 100 fly to get fifth. Dana swam great and won in a best time of 51.9. Then I won the breaststroke with a 59.1. I was hoping to get into the 58 range but I guess that it was not to be. I was happy that I had good speed going out. I think that I was 27.89 in the first 50. And it was a pretty good double for me since I don’t usually swim multiple events a day. Dana also swam a great 200 IM and managed to pull off fifth place in the high point award.

P.S. I haven’t played a computer games the entire time I’ve been here. Progress!
