Shooting, Ketchup and Sprinkles…

Things have been pretty busy lately. On Wednesday, I flew out of Colorado Springs super early in order to begin two days of shooting at the Speedo photo shoot. It’s always pretty fun to be in the photo shoots where there are professionals making me look beautiful and taking pictures of me. But it also requires moments of serious exertion. Jumping around and holding impossible positions for forever is not easy but it totally makes for some awesome photographs. I’m excited to see how they all turn out in the next Speedo catalogue.
My group at the photo shoot (we all are brought in to the shoot in a series of different groups) consisted of Megan Jendrick, Jessica Hardy, Kim Vandenburg, Ben WT, and me. It was a good group, although it was a little awkward at times when people were asking us about who got to go to the Olympics. We had fun going out to dinner at Ketchup on the first night.
Apparently, Ketchup is a LA hot spot. Some people from The Hills or some reality TV show went there to eat one time and made it very popular. The food was pretty good but I think that its main appeal was its trendiness. The décor is ketchup-themed 60s and the food is, in general, upscale diner style comfort food. I think that if you are in the mood for an expensive meal consisting of ribs and mac and cheese it is a good place to go. However, in my opinion, a lot of the Palo Alto restaurants beat it out pretty easily.
We also visited Sprinkles, a cupcake shop that is also very trendy. I have to admit, the red velvet cupcake that I had was one of the best cupcakes I have ever had, probably worth the $3.25 I paid for it. We didn’t have to wait in line at all, which was fortunate. The last time I walked by Sprinkles (while I was in LA for Golden Goggles) there was a line about thirty people long. I’m not sure that a cupcake is worth that long of a wait but for one of these babies…maybe.
After spending two days at the photo shoot I headed off to Long Beach to watch women’s Pac-10s. It’s been going pretty well so far. The meet has been fast but not ridiculous. However, there is quite a bit of swimming left.
