From the Pool

In Austin

Dana and I are in Texas now for the LC American Champs. We’ve joined up with the Santa Clara Swim Club and their coach, John, is looking out for us. It’s a big relief to be with a team because then we don’t have to figure out everything for ourselves. I also can avoid driving, which is a huge plus since I hate it. The meet starts in the morning but I am only swimming the 50 free and the 100 fly on the first day.

Before I headed out of town Greg and I dressed up and went out to dinner to celebrate the short time I was in Palo Alto. We went out to a place we had never been before, Evvia, in Palo Alto. It was sooo good. I really think that there are a ton of great places to eat in and around Palo Alto, so maybe I am not that discerning, but I really enjoyed this place.

First of all, we lucked out and got a parking spot right across the street and the last seat in the house. The service was excellent (no snobbiness when we ordered regular water instead of sparkling). The food was probably a 4 out of 5. But what was really excellent was the dessert – arboro rice pudding with honey-glazed pear. So good.
